In almost any part of the world, unemployment is an economic problem. Companies cut back on employment for many reasons. In Kenya, government employees are being laid off. This is not a new phenomenon, as in places where there is a superfluity of personnel in the government, cutting back on these extra (but not essential) labor produces more efficiency and lowers the cost. In the Philippines,
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has implemented a similar approach to employment, thus reducing government expense to a favorable percentage.
But, these are of course not favorable to the soon-to-be-jobless. If the reorganization is merely caused by
seasonal changes, as in the
case of Germany this past month, then it the outlook for jobseekers should remain positive. However, it's unlikely that this cutting back on employment opportunities will always be caused by the bad weather. In France, unemployment rose to 9.6% from 0.7%. Economists tell us that just because there are too many jobless people doesn't mean the country's economy is deteriorating. In fact, experts say that this trend may signify an overall improved economy, because people don't have to work that hard and wait for their paychecks at the end of the month in order to survive.
