Recession has affected many industries. Many people have lost their jobs and, eventually, their homes because of the crisis. Read on to know how to be less vulnerable during the tough economic times.
Guide to recession-proof jobs
There are many recession-proof jobs. These jobs are actually a good choice for a more stable means of living because you won't easily be subjected to lay-offs and other problems associated with the recession. Security jobs are among the recession-proof jobs. The financial crisis may go very bad but the need for security won't dramatically wane in numbers. Healthcare jobs are also recession-proof. Job opportunities in this field will hardly decrease and may even surge up. Teaching jobs also belong to the recession-free jobs, since the need for trained teachers does not diminish even if the economy gets really bad.
Building a network when searching for jobs
To find jobs the easy and efficient way, building a network is necessary. When you build a network, choose the people who belongs to the industry where you want to be in the future. In this way, asking for information about the industry and the available jobs would not take too much time and effort on your part.
It is best to pursue a career in an industry that is recession-proof. In this way, you won't have constant fear of losing your job even when the economy starts to spiral down.

Israel's employment rate was increasing last year. How about this year? In January, it was still in the middle line and was keeping its pace. However, recent events and its current situation apparently tells us that the employment rate of Israel is struggling to stay at the top line. As an example, Philippines has brought their Filipino OFW's, who were working in Israel and Lebanon, back to the country because the danger was upsurging. Who would want to work in a place that promises safety but is involved in a war?

The big boom in outsourcing these days are call centers. And India has been the primary target of foreign companies for their off-shore investments for years. Today, the scenario is completely changed. India is taking its call centers out of the country and into Britain. Back to home, I suppose. These call centers are expected to create 1,000 jobs in Northern Ireland.
ICICI OneSource is a call center company in India announced that it will open 2 call centers in Northern Ireland. These means that in the next couple of years job opportunities in the outsourcing industry will increase by 1,000 more. ICICI will open it first call center in the Belfast area offering about 400 jobs in July, while the second call center is planned to be located in north-west of Northern Ireland. The government is extending its arms by funding the project through Invest Northern Ireland.
Last year, a call center from India also started operations in Belfast in 2005. A competitor of ICICI, HCL, was the first to venture in British call centers. For reasons of cheaper price and skilled workforce, foreign companies invest in India. But this time Indian firms are investing in Britain.

Unemployment remains to be a major problem in many developing nations despite the on-going progress both economically and politically. The lack of jobs remains to be a potential hindrance why nations fail to meet the demands of globalizing world. According to the head of the International Labor Organization of the United Nations, Juan Somavia, in order for these developing countries to keep up with the demands of a growing labor market, 430 million new jobs must be rigged out in the next 10 years.
Another point that should be considered is the pressing demands of globalization. Although we can say we are already living in a globalized world, especially with the presence of supranational bodies like the European Union, governments of countries still cannot supply sufficient number of jobs for their citizens. In addition, the ILO head puts into focus the need for policies that would aid in creating more jobs to bolster a country's economy. He pointed out further that a huge chunk, about 80 percent, of the global work force is found in developing countries. The leading challenges that face countries to optimize job creation are poverty, changing patterns of labor, labor standards, child labor, among others.

People with disabilities require special attention from people who can motivate them to be better individuals. That is exactly what a job coach does. He is a training specialist who gets paid to help people with impairment, physical or otherwise. They help the disabled to better cope with the demands of their job for them to gain success in what they are doing. He is tasked to monitor, train, assess and provide support to employers that have special needs and require attention. In addition, they also fill certain skills or workable tips that are lacking in people. Consequently, these disabled workers can harness their skills and improve their sociability or working relationship with other people in the organization.
Job coaching is fast becoming a popular profession for others. Since positions are readily available, it's no wonder it has become a crucial tool to speed up the job searching process. In the internet, you can search for hundreds of sites that offer job coaching or training. Overwhelmingly, a lot of people get help from them. Their role is seen as indispensable to society as they teach people how to succeed in their chosen careers, show them their potentials and work out their weaknesses.

A boon in employment can mean a lot of things for a country. First off, the economy is doing extremely well. More investors are doing business. The political condition is doing great too. This same scenario is now happening to Ireland. According to a statistics released by the CSO, the country's chief statistics agency, employment has risen to 4.7 percent reaching over two million employed people from last year. The figures may be astounding but, the CSO had also revealed that, Ireland still struggles from unemployment as it increased by 6,000 staying put at 4.4%.
Immigration was seen to be accountable for the increase of employment in the region. Ireland is a member of the European Union. As such it has opened its job markets to other member state of EU. Other countries that have an open job market include UK, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Greece, and Spain.
Ireland has a renewed policy on employment. Back during the period before the mid-1990's, the country had exported its people to other countries like UK and North America. But due to the increase of foreign investments in Ireland, people need not go to other countries to work. That is very good news, considering that other countries still have to send their people off to other places to earn money.

Outsourcing has been the solution for most companies to lower the costs of production or focus on competencies. It has reached its peak these days, extending in countries from as far as India and the Philippines. First there was the call centers, then medical transcription. But here comes a company from Orange County who thought of doing outsourcing in the legal field. Works that are outsourced in this field often deals with techno-legal work or keying of legal transcripts to writing legal documents.
The company, The Legal Outsource which is based in Irvine, is planning to outsource legal work from the US to lawyers in India. And why India? The primary reason is that legal service fees there are much cheaper than in the United States. Another point is the language. Most Indian lawyers speak fluent English. In addition, the country also makes use of similar legal system much like in the US.
A research group claims that legal jobs that are being outsourced can tremendously increase in the coming years. The numbers are astounding, from a mere 6,000 in 2003 to 29,000 in 2010. Legal Outsourcing has been a sure option for small and medium-sized firms since their lawyers can catch up time with more important things that they can't do if they didn't delegate the job.

Early last month, ACNielsen, the largest market research company in the world, came out with a survey saying that there is a worsening unemployment crisis in Western Europe's working population. Here we find the world's strongest economies but their people harbor anxieties regarding their employment related issues. But it seems quite paradoxically, the US is on a 'full employment' scenario, as job come rushing in.
The country's unemployment rate continues to surge down as employment goes up. A good performing economy could be the number one factor why this scenario is what it is. All over the country, the rate of unemployment has dropped down from 5000 to 4.65 million last month. On the other hand, the unemployment rate surge down by 5000 to 232,000 according to reports.
The area where most additional jobs where incurred lies in the sector of leisure and hospitality, which includes arts, recreation, entertainment, food services and accommodation. The sector posted an additional 2,700 jobs. On the other hand, the sector of motion pictures as well as sound recording has dropped jobs to 5000 which is considered the month's largest decline.

It's a good year for newly grads as the economy welcomes an increase for hiring in the job market. This new trend is very significant considering that the economy is in an upswing. A report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers or NACE has observed that companies are expectant to fill up their job requirements and could even exceed the stats that were recorded from last year.
In effect, starting salaries can also increase. And these are not merely speculations, as there are data to back it up. Prompted by a tug of war between companies and among newly graduates, the results are higher salary offers. NACE also reported that the competition for college hires had tremendously increased and over twenty per cent have raised their salary offers. Likewise, the group has observed that the graduates majoring in courses like accounting, marketing, computer science and management are among the top-priority for hiring. Although newly grads can be particularly choosy with their first job, there are sufficient opportunities that can accommodate them. Would this scenario continue in the coming years, we can only expect.

The showbiz industry maintains and supplies a lot of jobs each year. TV shows, movie productions, entertainment companies and even publishing companies that are one way or the other involved in the industry of entertainment employ people who are skilled and fit to do whatever their jobs requires them to do. People in the poorer countries in search for better or high-paying jobs relocate to another country that offers more opportunities for employment. This is becoming the trend nowadays as governments come out with less stringent policies and legislations that deal with work permits and immigration.
Good news for American and non-American entertainers. You can work in the United Kingdom entertainment industry without egging on a competition with job seekers of UK. And this has been made possible through a proposal to institute a new system for immigration. This was the view that UK showbiz unions hold after learning of the changes to be made for the work permit system. Furthermore, it will also allow those who have less skills to do brief jobs as supposed to people who have high skills.

The New Zealand Government came up with a strategic plan to get prisoners working and open for them a world of opportunities. The strategy was targeted to reduce the rates of repeating offense and give prisoners a chance at gaining employment while in prison and the moment they step out. This is a form of rehabilitation for them to make them useful citizens. Not only does the government-led program offer employment but also skills training for prisoners to harness their what they are capable of offering to the workforce.
Nonetheless, the program does not cater to all the prisoners but only to those who may qualify with the said program. Before they even entered prison some of these prisoners have stable jobs, but going to jail for an offense need not mean you'll be worthless. It also aims to assess the current local needs for employment and put the prisoners to where they are qualified. With the ever-increasing demand for skilled workers in the country, it is hoped that through the program prisoners are trained for industry-related skills in farming, forestry, textiles and the like; that are needed in the labor market.

In the 1930's US stock market plummeted to an all time low. Although no one predicted that it will pave the way for the Great Depression, it has forever created a mark in the history of America. Businesses and even banks closed down, people have lost their jobs and the dollar had become worthless. In an instant, US economy plunged at the brink of collapse.
But that was over seven decades ago, U.S. today is considered the most powerful country in the whole world, both politically and economically. This year, the economy has generated over 211,000 jobs during the first three months particularly in the sector of service like banks, travel agencies retail establishments and the like. The area of construction has also generated a good number of employment to a total of 7,000 d new employees. These figures may signal that US has yet again created a record in the increase of employment since the year 2000.
Although, US economy is not perfect as it sometimes experiences lags, an economy that is capable of providing good jobs and support for job seekers is better and places people in better condition.

Several angry protesters flocked outside the National Assembly in Cambodia in the observance of the International Labor Day. The workers demanded an increase in their salary and other unresolved grievances regarding their respective working conditions. The country of Cambodia observes International Labor Day as a public holiday, coming from a Communist rule back in the 1980s, but government officials had previously warned the protesters against creating a public disturbance.
Policemen with AK-47 rifles and electric batons were dispatched to disperse the demonstrators off the streets and parks of Phnom Penh. Fire trucks were used to block the protesting workers from gathering, and the use of force was later questioned by the public for violating the people's right for free speech. The police justified that they observed maximum tolerance to maintain peace and make sure that the rally will not block traffic jams which might hinder people from reaching the airport in time and miss their flight.
There were no report of injuries on the part of the protesters and the riot police, but some prominent Cambodian rights activists called the incident as a manifestation of the lack of democracy in the country. In the recent years, several of these activists were briefly imprisoned by the Cambodian government.

The increasing demand for employment prompts major companies to sign up for a spot in college job fairs to offer newly grads a job opportunity. In the Massachusetts area alone, there is an appealing increase in companies from different categories enlisted for university job fairs. Although job fairs do not offer 100% chance of landing your dream job right after college, but at least they can give you the faintest idea where to begin your job search.
The option for most people who would want to shoot two birds with one stone, these events present you dozens of job opportunities just by gallivanting from one booth to another. And really, this facet shouldn't be brushed off at all. Imagine the amount of preparation companies put into organizing and fixing the whole thing just for the advantage of students. This being the case, job fairs has better benefits more than its downside.
One way or the other, job fairs also act as beneficial for the companies joining the event. This is because it helps them secure conveniently the right candidates in a short time. Also they have lesser expenses.

Based on the recent report by the US Department of Labor, the rate of unemployment for immigrants dipped lower than the rate for US born workers. The department began recording the rates 10 years ago. As such, the rate for jobless immigrants is 4.6% while that of the US born citizens is 5.2%
In 2005, there were around 21 million immigrants recorded to be working in the US. However, 40% of those workers have now become American citizens. Still, that leaves around 12.5 million employed non-citizens. Based on statistics, 40% of the employed non-citizens are Mexicans. This is followed by El Salvador, which is registered 4.3%. India ranked third with a rate of 4%.
The primary factor attributed for this improvement is the growth of the home-construction market. As such, this opened more job opportunities for non-American citizens. The hotel industry in the US also records a high employment rate for foreign workers. It must be noted though that in the recent survey made by the Department of Labor, the number does not distinguish the legal and illegal workers.

In almost any part of the world, unemployment is an economic problem. Companies cut back on employment for many reasons. In Kenya, government employees are being laid off. This is not a new phenomenon, as in places where there is a superfluity of personnel in the government, cutting back on these extra (but not essential) labor produces more efficiency and lowers the cost. In the Philippines, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has implemented a similar approach to employment, thus reducing government expense to a favorable percentage.
But, these are of course not favorable to the soon-to-be-jobless. If the reorganization is merely caused by seasonal changes, as in the case of Germany this past month, then it the outlook for jobseekers should remain positive. However, it's unlikely that this cutting back on employment opportunities will always be caused by the bad weather. In France, unemployment rose to 9.6% from 0.7%. It's a figure quite depressing for a country so progressive.
Some company reorganizations may also sound like a boon to the economy. A paradox? Economists tell us that just because there are too many jobless people doesn't mean the country's economy is deteriorating. In fact, experts say that this trend may signify an overall improved economy, because people don't have to work that hard and wait for their paychecks at the end of the month in order to survive.

Researchers at the University of Illinois based in Chicago released a study concerning the social background and status of immigrant day workers in the United States. The research, the first ever detailed sociological work on immigrant labor that composed mostly of Hispanic and other illegal immigrants from various countries, stated that these laborers who wait for menial jobs across the country have families to feed and are religious observers.
The study also pointed out that one in five have been injured in the occupation. Plus, nearly half of those who responded stated that they were cheated out of pay. Almost half of the immigrants interviewed said that they were hired by homeowners to perform house maintenance chores from simple carpentry to gardening. Also half of the respondents got work experience from construction contractors.
