Taking job exams is a part of any job hunting search. Most employers now include a job exam in most job application procedures, which makes it important to know how to sail past one of these with ease.
Preparing for a job exam
Preparing for a job exam is simple. Study the items related to the job. If the job requires skills that you think you lack, learn those skills because these may come up in the exam.
Keeping your cool during job exam day
Panicking is one surefire way to botch up a job exam. Keep your cool. Unwind the night before with a long, hot bath or a massage. Stop cramming the night before the exam. A glance or two at your notes will do before you get an early sleep. All these will help prepare your mind and body for the exam ahead.
What to do after a job exam
Keep yourself from thinking about the job exam that you took. Its no use fretting over exam answers that you cannot change so keep yourself busy with other job hunting opportunities instead of dealing with the one you just took.

Tired, stressed, drained, exhausted -- these are the basic fatigue syndrome. People generally call all of these feelings fatigue. It is usually accompanied by impaired senses, lapse of judgment, slow motion, and less productivity. Fatigue is the most common problem of employees. It is a result of long hours of strenuous work and sleep deficiency. Fatigue is also the main cause of a moody temperament. It affects your work and your lifestyle.
Sunday, May 13. 2007
Though fatigue involves only you because it only affects your body and your mind, it needs other people to get rid of it. Both employees and employers play an important role in solving this problem. Why? Because if an employee has fatigue, work is affected and so is the company's product. Surrounding is among the top factors that cause fatigue. Needless to say, the amount of work in a day works against the constraints of time. Thus, you can only work out your fatigue if you ask help from your peers and your boss.
Saturday, May 12. 2007
If you can't get rid of fatigue, you can at least minimize it by managing your time. Correct time management is the best shield of an employee against stressful load of work. The workplace must be conducive and safe enough for all workers. These are two ways, you can add more ways that you think would help you reduce your fatigue. Or, I strongly suggest that you take a break from work, stroll along the park, or visit a beautiful green garden where you can relax and rejuvenate yourself.

I was thinking about job interviewers the other week, and about how much I hate them. They always boss around, ask stupid questions, and hire you. At least they try their best to hire me (I won't let them). The only problem with this bastards is that they don't want to quit acting as the big villain bosses in Xbox 360 games. As a matter of fact, they actually look like the villain bosses, and most of them are monsters.
So what should we do to stop these arse-licking parasites from being a crowd of insufferable know-it-alls? If you have a job interview, bring a shotgun. When the whore starts asking you questions and you don't know the answer, blow her shitty mouth off. When these braggarts command you to fill-out long and nonsense forms, tie them to their swivel chairs and place their heads in a sack full of rats. Burning these people to ashes is not a good idea. You'll only asphyxiate, and you'll only contribute to air pollution. As you all know, these interviewers are whores in heat. If they don't want to be tied in their swivel chairs, then fuck them to their death. That step is lot more easier, not to mention sweeter.

I used to work in the theater. We were always required by the producers, stage managers, and all the big bosses to come on time. That is something that I have no problems with. I am the type of person who goes early to bed so that I can rise early the next day. However, this was not the case for one of my co-workers.
She was a very good thespian. She can actually bring life to the roles that she is supposed to portray. The problem with her, though, is that she usually comes late for rehearsals and other pre-production meetings. You can just imagine the stress all of us feels whenever my co-worker does not show up on time. At first, the big honchos tried to give some time for her to adapt to the early call times. She was able to make it for some time, but time came that she returned to her usual tardy self. For all I care, she must have used up all excuses in the world. However, enough was enough. Everyone was absolutely mad at her. We could not set up the lights. The costume designers could not arrange her clothes. Everyone was affected... all just because of the girl who can't arrive on time! The producers finally decided to let my co-worker leave, despite the fact that she was really talented.
I could have pitied her. But, no, that's not in my nature. It's either you're on time or not. Time for me is gold, cliche as it sounds. I'm not being a preacher. I am just stating a piece of advice that we all must put into our very soul. Why am I relating this? Simply because it's not only in stage plays where one is required to come on time. We should all know this. You might think that your boss does not notice your tardiness, but wait until he has had enough. You might as well pack your bags and leave now.

Tim (not his real name) just got out of prison serving sentence for a petty crime. He applied for a job as a car sales agent and got admitted. He was interviewed twice but did not disclose any information about his criminal record. When the company conducted a background screening of all their recent employees, Tim had to say goodbye. He was very mad that he had to go through a hard time to find a decent job , and he was even trying to his best to change. Life can be quite cruel, indeed.
Generally, background screening of applicant's criminal record is legal. But the extent to which criminal records can be made basis for employment decisions vary depending on the state laws and regulations that cover them. For instance, there are several state laws that prohibit employers to consider arrests without convictions or arrests. Arrests without convictions are those that did not lead to a guilty verdict or was dismissed (No papered or Nolle Prosequi). On the other hand, there are state laws that call upon employers to screen the criminal records of their applicants. These employers are usually engaged in the areas of education, childcare and nursing, security, and home health care.

According to a recent report released by Cornell University and Wharton School, the commonplace hiring of illegal immigrants by companies can compromise the labor standards of the country. In addition it could also put low-skilled American laborers in a more distressed condition. Prompted by a very demanding and competitive economy, employers from the sectors of food service, construction as well as delivery industries are hiring undocumented aliens just so they can cut the cost of production while maintaining profits.
According to a federal bureau, the Immigration and Naturalization Service have made an estimate that there were 7 million illegal aliens that are living in the US in January of 2000. These numbers are growing by half a million every year. This gives us an estimate that there could be 10 million illegal aliens in the US. But regardless of the stats, illegal immigration can cause a serious thereat to the workforce. There's a growing number of Americans who are displaced and receive lower wages because of the competition in the job market. I actually know of many people who are complaining of these workers because they are apparently "stealing" their jobs from the legal residents and workers. Hence, the government must really exert efforts to curb this potential Pandora's box.

She looks great on paper. She has a complete list of references. But there's more to her story than meets the eye. That is why employers ask the service of employment screening specialist to handle the process of investigation. By doing so, employers can make the right hiring decisions without compromising the company and the workforce as well.
They dig for information that might be hiding beneath the surface, performing screening tests such as criminal record investigation, drug screening and the like. Although it could save a lot of time and ensure security against negligent hiring and retention lawsuits, can this process of screening potential hires legal and ethical?
Screening for employees may be a daunting task for companies because of compliance concerns with both state and federal regulations as well as job requirements themselves. And there is a need to guarantee that these investigations are focused on insuring that they are in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other related state and federal laws. In addition, they also need to comply with policies to reduce claims of discrimination through a uniform process of conducting background checks.

Most often than not, we really don't care much about researching for any information about our prospective employers. We might not go there empty-handed thanks to our resumes but we know nothing about the employer's background. And that's very important in landing a desired job. Why is there a need to probe on such matters when you can just sit there and answer every question that the interviewer might throw at you? But here's the scenario: what if he asks you something about the company? Do you think you can invent an answer to that?
At the onset, your resume or your cover letter should in some way show that you know enough about the company. If you individualize your application documents and cater them to the companies that you know something about, you'll have greater chance of moving on to the next process -- the interview. In addition, it helps that you're prepared during the interview. The employer expects you to know what the company is doing and why are you fit in the line of business that the company does. Showing some interest regarding the company is a good sign that might equate into good impression. Call it your edge above the others.

Getting an interview by phone is like attending to a personal job interview. It is important because the potential employer will assess how you will answer the questions. There are some ways to make a good impression during your phone interview. Remember, you have to win your phone interview before you get a personal meeting with hiring personnel.
If you are expecting a call from a potential recruiter, always keep your phone or cell phone available. As always, whoever gives you a call, greet the caller politely. You never know if he is your new employer. When being interviewed, go to a quiet location, and don't let any one distract you. Get a copy of your resume so you won't overlook important information when you speak with a recruiter.
In addition, talk clearly and confidently. The hiring manager will note your communication ability. Make your caller understand your point, and give him a time to speak, too. Let the caller know that you're still on the phone by responding on his message. And, be sure that your mobile phone is completely charged.

It's a common office scenario to work with a difficult employee. This chronic problem can somehow affect the operation of the company and the performance of the affected employee. And, what are you going to do if you're experiencing this problem? Actually, there are no rules for handling headache-maker people. But, doing few relevant actions will definitely release your "pain in the neck".
Try to detach the personality of the person from his professional duties. Think about his contributions to the company, and disregard his mean deeds. Remember, both of you are in the office to work, and not to quarrel. Also, don't feel bothered about your officemate's rude personality. Anyway, it is his character and not yours. So, don't be affected by his odd nature.
Listening to him will also help you to control the situation. If you don't agree with his project proposal, allow him to talk, make some clarifications, and use a kind comment. This will let you communicate with your difficult employee. Also, say few messages, and don't say them again. So, he will definitely listen to you with open ears.

The aspect of salary is the most crucial part of the job interview process. Since this is the most important part, you have to win your desired salary. If you are an experienced person and you believe that your qualifications will exceed their expectations, you can name your price. How?
Before you proceed to your interview, compute how much you currently receive from your present job. Include all the benefits, and desire at least 30% up to 80% higher compared to your current income. Then, get ready for the interview moment. During your interview, don't discuss about the salary right away. Let the interviewer open the topic, and lead the conversation to their offer. If possible, avoid giving exact an amount; you can ask him, "How much do you offer for the post?".
After the negotiation, give yourself a little time to contemplate with their offer. Then, inform the interviewer about your decision at least a day after the job interview date. Be polite if you are going to decline their offer. Although you will not accept their proposal, close it with good approach.

To be interviewed is important in your job hunting mission. As essential as your qualifications, etiquette is also important during the interview. So, it is right to bring out your good manners to win that high-paying job.
Dress appropriately and neatly. Whatever the kind of position you are vying for, dress up with well-ironed clothes, and well-polished shoes. Come to the interview at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time. It is fine if you will arrive very early, than to get to the office a minute late. Don't give the impression that you will always come late when they hire you.Show up proper manners. Aside from coming early, be polite to your interviewer. Shake hands if possible. Be modest when you talk, and avoid nasty words. Specifically if it is your first interview, don't demand for high salary right away. Let the conversation reach that topic. Remember; always keep a wall between you. You should treat your interviewer as a boss, so always give respect. Turn your cellular phone off.
And, always show your sincere appreciation for the time allotted to interview you. A simple note of thanks will do. It will really help your interviewer to recognize you.

It is inevitable for people to fall in love with their officemates. After all, 8 hours is spent everyday in the office. Where else can one find someone who will be a good part of his/her life?
However, one must remember that some work environments frown upon office romance. Some employers believe that office romance can just hinder the output or productivity of their employees if ever an office romance does take place. On the other hand, some companies do not really care if an office romance is going on. Just as long as the requirements for work are met, then everything is fine.
Furthermore, it is not just the employers that the employees should consider if they want to engage in office romance. They, themselves, should be confident that they can handle the situation. They should make it a point that their jobs are not compromised because of the romance that they are engaging in.
Also, they should be able to handle the talks or gossips that will follow because of the office romance. People can't help but talk about others. Therefore, an office romance is surely going to be a hot topic for some.
The decision to engage in office romance lies in the person himself/herself alone. No one should dictate his/her feelings. However, the important thing is that he/she should be ready to face the music.

Adolescents can now work in the food industry, for that extra summer income! The employment standards have been changed. The adolescents, ages 12 to 14 can be legally employed in food chains or restaurants, of course, they still have service limitations. They don't need a working permit, though, they can just apply for certain positions in the food industry.
Now, what do they need to do? They need their parent's consent, they can't just apply for a job> without their parents knowing it, that's a strict rule and standard. And they need to be completely assessed by their employers. The applicants will undergo a simple "safety checklist for underage workers." Of course, a safety, and health check is a must for adolescent applicants, it's actually a must for everyone.

When I was a kid, I wanted to work in a grocery store and tinker around with the cashier registry! Now, I wonder if kids or even adolescents can really do that. I learned that children under the age of 12, cannot be employed at anytime or even in the slightest way. Adolescents, at ages 12, 13 and above, cannot work in more than an hour or two on school days. On weekends or in days when there's no school, adolescents can still not work for more than 8 hours. Of course, they are only allowed to work in positions that does not strip them away of their childhhod.
After 9 in the evening, adolescents cannot anymore work. I think that's fair enough. Working in small doses is a really good learning experience for the children, plus they would know the value of income andfinancial planning!

Job interviews are very nerve-wrecking most especially when it's your first one. What should you answer or reply when your interviewer asks you very private or intrusive questions? This is a situation which many of us experience.
Of course, we should understand that job interview is a big factor in our applications. It's very hard to avoid answering questions because this might affect your application. So, what should you do? Stay calm and pleasant; ask what's the relevance of the question to your job application in a nice and polite way. If you think that the interviewer is going out of line, you might have to think twice about joining the company.

Be your own boss; don't wait for anyone to tell you what to do. Listen, but trust yourself. Finding employment can be hard and confusing, but if you know what you really want, go for it. I suggest you reiterate in your mind what career path you really want to take.
It's all about career building and personal skills so you have to hone your potentials by doing what you love best. Try and set goals or projects for yourself; that way, you would have focus and commitment to employment, and maybe even bonus travel opportunities that may ring your bell. That is to say you just didn't apply for something, but you applied and pursued something for your own interest and passion. Do something that you like. Nothing's impossible!

Aside from technical skills, companies also would want to be acquainted with the job applicant's personality. Job interviews provide them this opportunity. Through job interviews, employers are able to directly deal with the individual and gauge his or her strengths and weaknesses.
Job interviews also enable seeking employers to find out a person's interests, values and career goals, and determine his or her fit into the company or vacancy profile. Thus, the next time you have a job interview, make the effort and impress your prospect company with your answers to increase your chances of being hired.
